Midwinter Co. offers return / exchange with the following arrangement:
- Item purchased as the metal and size that we have pre-made, non custom. Look for "ready" in the title of the product.
- Item is in the mail back to us within a 1 week (7 day) window from the day it was received.
- Return fee: $120
- Exchange fee: $0, waived at this time
- Use our shipping label that we will send to you with proper insurance and signature confirmation.

In order to return, we ask you purchase the item without any customization or sizing (yet.) Please order it at the size that it currently is - size info is found in the description, and the metal it currently is. We will resize (free) or upgrade/change in metal after you make your decision to keep the ring!
Pieces that are complete customized (your chosen diamond + your chosen setting) cannot be returned or exchanged. Anything customized for you is just for you. Please consider coming to visit us at our studio in Wilmington, Delaware to view diamonds in person!

If you are within the return window: Contact us. We will send you a prepaid shipping label that has the correct shipping insurance amount and signature requirements. Place the ring back into the ring box that it came in, and secure it in padded/boxed packaging. You are responsible for the price of ring until it is back into our hands, so please be aware of security. E-mail us at firstname.lastname@example.org for a prepaid shipping label.
Q: How can I tell if my purchase is available for return/exchange?
A: Items available for return or exchange will have in the title "ready to ship" and within the description, you will find that the ring already has a ring size. If you are looking at an item where you have to choose a metal within the listing before adding it to your cart, then it will be made for you, and is considered custom.
Q: Why only 7 days?
The ring cannot be left out of inventory for long, as sometimes we have clients on a wait list to see if it becomes available again. It is very unlikely you will damage it within 7 days, which is great for our end, so that we can sell it again.
Q: Why the $50 or $120 fee for returned/exchanged items, and how is that processed?
A: This fee is a processing fee for your return. The fee is $50 for exchanges, $120 for returns. We simply refund your payment minus the fee that is applicable to your piece. Prices are in U.S. Dollars.
Q: What is the return process look like exactly?
A: If you choose to return your piece of jewelry, you need to contact us as soon as possible at email@example.com for a shipping label. You will place the ring back into the ring box that it came in, and secure it in padded/boxed packaging. This will be within one week of receiving it. You will ship the item back to our studio at 24A Trolley Square Wilmington Delaware 19806 USA. When we receive your ring undamaged and unworn, we will process your return minus $120 USD. The return may take 2-3 days to show up within your bank account.
Q: What is the exchange process look like exactly?
A: If you choose to exchange your piece of jewelry, you need to contact us as soon as possible at firstname.lastname@example.org for a shipping label. You will then place the ring back into the ring box that it came in, and secure it in padded/boxed packaging. This will be within one week of receiving it. You will ship the item back to our studio at 24A Trolley Square Wilmington Delaware 19806 USA. When we receive your ring undamaged and unworn, we will begin the process of completing your exchange. Exchange discussion is done within e-mail at email@example.com.
Q: What does it mean when you say "return within 7 days after proof of delivery"?
A: The ring does not have to be back in our hands within 7 days, but your ring must be in the mail no later than the end of the 7th day from the proof of delivery we have.
Q: What if I love the ring but want a different setting, metal, or size?
A: This is ideal! You will send it back to us, and we will need time to re-create the ring for you to your chosen customization. The ring then is no longer available for return/exchange.
A: We understand! The good news is that shipping insurance is inexpensive and a pretty clear cut process. Shipping insurance really only works if you get signature confirmation as well. It comes into play if the package is damaged during shipment, or is lost in the unknown depths of the shipping warehouses. But, let's say you do damage the ring. In that case you cannot return it, but we will work with you to repair it, based on our warranty. The best way to avoid issues is to package the ring back up in it's original box and inner packaging, securing it with strong tape, and ship it back as soon as you make your decision.
Q: What steps do I take to make sure to ship the ring back securely so that I can receive a refund/exchange?
A: It is important that you think of your part of shipping back as a professional business shipment, worth the price that you have paid. This is because if the package comes to us without the ring somehow, we will not issue a refund or offer an exchange.
You are responsible for the price of ring until it is back into our hands, so please be aware of security.
